The Malt House

The Malt House is a carefully considered extension and refurbishment of an 18th-century building, doubling its floor area while preserving its historic character. The design introduces a new wing built with a modern steel portal frame, allowing for generous open-plan spaces, vaulted ceilings, and a double-height entrance hall that brings light and volume into the home.

Original features like exposed beams and fireplaces were retained and restored, working alongside new oak joinery, underfloor heating, and subtle lighting to create a warm, modern interior. The result is a home that respects its heritage while meeting the needs of contemporary living—balanced, functional, and thoughtfully detailed.
